Good Afternoon Wheelies: I don't think I need to tell you all this but it's going to be incredibly hot all week, including on Saturday (forecast to reach 109 Saturday). With that in mind, I've decided to split the start location for this ride. One ride will begin and end at our usual location, Granite Bay Community Park, located on the corner of Douglas Blvd and Barton Rd in Granite Bay. This ride is 31 miles with 1700' of climbing. Linda Laswell will be leading that ride. Because of the forecast of high heat, Linda has moved the start time up to 7 am, i.e., socialization at 6:30, sign in at 6:45 and pedals down at 7:00

The second ride will be out of Truckee. This ride will begin and end in the Save Mart shopping center parking lot, located on the corner of state highway 89 S and Deerfield Dr. This route contains more than 16 miles of gravel. If you plan to ride this route, please be sure that your bike is properly equipped with either gravel or mountain bike tires. The entire route is 40 miles with 3500' of climbing. The ride will be unsupported, i.e., there are no food or coffee stops between Truckee and Tahoe City so bring food and plenty of water. There is no SAG support--you will be on your own! Remember to bring tools and extra tubes. The ride leader and others may turn around at or near Watson Lake and return to Truckee. Bring sunscreen and insect repellant. Socialization, 9:00, sign in 9:15, pedals down 9:30. Finally, I've been told that there are construction delays on I 80 so plan accordingly.
