Description:  Ride locations: On three days, the rides will begin and end in the Save Mart shopping center, located at the intersection of California highway 89 S and Deerfield Dr in Truckee (McDonalds is across Deerfield from the Save Mart shopping center). On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the rides will begin and end in Sierraville, 25 miles north of Truckee, at the junction of state highways 49 and 89.

You must be a member of the Sacramento Wheelmen Cycling Club in order to participate. Individuals are on there own to make hotel reservations in the Truckee area. All social hours will be at a residence in the Truckee area following the ride each day. Beer, wine, soft drinks, munchies and two dinners will be provided (price to be determined). Please RSVP the ride leader at rosevillesteve@gmail.com. 

2024 Truckee Zodiac Itinerary:


Sept 9: Following your arrival in Truckee on Monday, we are offering three routes. All three routes begin at the Save Mart shopping center. Pedals down at Noon. The long route is 34 miles with 3500' elevation gain. The medium route is 27 miles and 2500' of elevation gain. The short route is 15 miles with 750' of elevation gain.

Sept 10: We are again offering three routes. All three routes begin and end at the Save Mart shopping center in Truckee. Pedals down for the long and medium routes is 9:00. Pedals down for the short route is 9:30. The long route is 63 miles, with 5500' of climbing. Climbs include Broakway Summit and the Mt. Rose Highway Summit. The medium route is 38 miles with 2300' of climbing and climbs Brockway Summit. The short route is 29 miles with 875' of elevation gain and follows the Truckee River into Tahoe City. All routes include a lunch stop at Jake's on the Lake in Tahoe City.

Sept 11: The three routes being offered all start and finish in Sierra City at the junction of highways 89 and 49. Sierra City is approximately 25 miles north of Truckee via highway 89. Pedals down at 9:30. The long route is 72 miles with 4450' of climbing and includes climbing Yuba Pass and Gold Lake Rd and returns via the Sierra Valley. The medium route is 56 miles with 4800' of climbing. Route climbs Yuba Pass and Gold Lake Rd and returns to Sierraville via highway 89. The short route is a beautiful, flat, 42 mile ride around the Sierra Valley with a total elevation gain of 500'. The route provides scenic views of the Sierra Nevada range and the valley.

Sept 12: Meet at the Save Mart shopping center. Pedals down at 9:00. The long route 

31 miles, 2300' of climbing. This route includes the Truckee River Legacy Trail, a 4.5 mile unpaved climb up Boca Rd and climbs up Alder Creek and Wolfgang into Tahoe Donner. The short route is 28 miles with 1800' of climbing. The route includes bike trails across the Martis Valley as well as along the Truckee River and up Trout Creek.
