Ride: 19.4 miles 254 feet Flat Flexible
Leader: Mabel Wong, 916.947.6975, sacwheelmenmembership@gmail.com
Description: 17th Annual Turkey Drive - Bring a frozen turkey, or money to buy one ($15 = turkey), for donation to the Sacramento Food Bank.
The Turkey Drive Ride is a legacy event for the Sacramento Wheelmen, the Sacramento Food Bank, Sacramento Bike Hikers, and KCRA Channel 3. In the past, we would ride our bikes carrying turkeys on our back, various bike bags, trailers, etc. to the Sacramento Food Bank. This is a great event for a good cause; feel free to donate money for a turkey ($15 = turkey). If you are unable to make the event. We ride to William Pond to meet up with the Gold River group (10:30 AM start) and continue on to the Cal Expo Main Gate Loop to drop off turkeys. The number of turkeys has grown over the years to the point we usually fill a vehicle driven by a Bike Hiker to carry the turkeys. A vehicle will be available at approximately 10:45 AM.
RWGPS: The Five Points route is Rock & Brew-1A (Turkey ride from Five Points). The RWGPS link is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49014617
For those who are interested, after dropping the turkeys off at Cal Expo, we are going to lunch at Rock and Brew restaurant at the corner of Expo Blvd and Ethan Way.
Please wear your Wheelmen Club Jersey/Vest/Jacket and smile for the camera!
Hope to see you as we continue the Turkey Ride tradition!!
