Description:
Join us for a scenic ride through Yolo County’s almond orchards and experience the vibrant blossoms that appear only this time of the year.
The ride begins at the parking lot of the Rotary Park in Winters and heads east through the orchards and open fields, then heads to Vacaville via Gibson Ranch Road. The rest stop is at Pure Grain Bakery and Café on Main Street. The Café’s owner is German, and the apple strudel is highly recommended.
The long and short routes follow the same directions to the coffee shop. The short route returns to Winters via Pleasants Valley Road and Putah Creek Road by Solano Lake. The long route follows the short route out of Vacaville to Pleasants Valley Road, then backtracks to Gibson Ranch Road, climbs Cantelow Road, back down to Pleasants Valley Road, and returns to Winters via Putah Creek Road and Solano Lake. Please note that approximately half a mile of Cantelow Road is unpaved with loose gravel.
Although the long route is only slightly longer than the medium route, it adds more than 700 feet of climbing over the additional 5 miles. Also, be aware that these routes are on rural roads with limited or no bike lanes.
Finally, as on every Wheelmen ride, you are responsible for your own navigation.
Location start/end: Rotary Park in Winters. There is a gazebo in the middle of the park.
The parking lot is at the back of the park, and is accessed from East Main Street
